Windows 8 vs. “Sarpsborg”

Windows 8 thwarts CDGFix code named “Sarpsborg”. Legacy code is not stable on the new Windows OS.
CDGFix code named “Sarpsborg” was scheduled for beta 1 release in January this year. However, the amount of legacy code required more work than expected, and hence the first beta release was postphoned. After summer the rewrite was completed and testing commenced.

Finally approaching beta 1 release, we was forced to take a dive into the new Windows 8. Some of our customers had tried to install CDGFix 3 Super on the new OS and reported various issues. During work on these cases we also found that some of the legacy code, which also was brigded into “Sarpsborg”, was unstable on Windows 8. Faced with this we once again have to consider how to proceed with the next major version of CDGFix.

Currently we have a beta 1 of “Sarpsborg” running on Windows 8, but it is still to early to release it to beta testers. We are now in the process of deciding what would be the next steps.

Since announcing “Sarpsborg” about two years back in time the project has faced various obstacles along the road. We are very dissapointed to once again have to report on a delay, but also want to emphasize that “Sarpsborg” is not dead. We work on the project along with supporting previous versions.
