No sound

When no sound can be heard during playback of a track there are several possible reasons. Below you will find a list of probable causes with corresponding suggestions for how to resolve the situation. Some of them may seem pretty obvious but they are listed anyway for completeness.

Cause: The speakers are turned off.

Solution: Turn the speakers on.

Cause: The volume control on the speakers or in Windows is set at minimum.

Solution: Increase the respective volume control.

Cause: The mute button is activated or the volume control is set at minimum in CDGFix 3 Super.

Solution: Both the mute button and the volume control in CDGFix 3 Super are located on the Main toolbar. Make sure the mute button is deactivated and that the volume control has been set at a reasonable level.

Cause: The cable from the computer to the speakers is loose.

Solution: Ensure the speaker cable is tightly fitted at each end.

Cause: The track has no corresponding sound file (MP3 or WAV).

Solution: To check whether the loaded track has a sound file you can look at the Main statusbar. At the right end there are two panels that displays the type and length of the graphics and the music respectively. The sound panel will display either MP3 or WAV to indicate the type of sound file, followed by the length of the sound file. If the loaded track has no corresponding sound file this panel will display the text Music only. To solve this situation you need to locate the sound file for the loaded track and make sure it is located in the same folder as the graphics (CDG or equivalent) file, and has the same base filename. Then reload the track in CDGFix 3 Super.

Cause: The track has a corresponding sound file, but the sound file is empty.

Solution: If the sound panel on the main statusbar indicates that a sound file has been loaded but there still is no sound, the sound file may be empty. This can occur if there has been an error during the ripping of a CDG disc, or the creation of the sound file has failed in other ways. To verify if this is the case you can select Timeline on the Tools main menu.  This will bring up the Timeline dialog that displays both the graphics and the sound as two separate diagrams. If the sound part of the diagram only contains a flat line the sound file is empty. To remedy a situation like this you will need to go back to the source of your track a request a new version that has been correctly created.
